Several years ago, I saw a man sleeping in a box at Penn Station. It was about four weeks before Christmas and over the PA system I heard “Silent Night.” The idea for the commercial was formed, executed and produced in time to start running Dec. 22nd. This was a huge effort that involved everyone from the late great Gene Kummel (Chairman Emeritus of McCann) to the Ad Council to the NYC TV affiliates. At the last minute, John Dooner of McCann played Santa and allowed us to give a wonderful gift to an organization that helped the city’s less fortunate.
